Not all the flowers I saw in Costa Rica were exploding with color; some were quite pale -- soft pink, white, lavender, pale yellow -- with tiny buds or delicate petals that beckoned one closer.
And there was much to admire beside the flowers -- fish-fin ferns, palm fronds, odd stalks and colorful leaves, even striking fungi in shades from oyster to rust.
And this oddity -- an albino fern? Pure white leaves and stems, growing right next to its bright green brethren.
